Random musings from a Granite City
The Beginning of something beautiful

Montag looked at the roller blades that lay at the bottom of his bed.  They sparkled in the early evening light, showing off the metallic rainbow colours that he had painted them with earlier that day.

This was it, he was finally doing something.  A week ago he had been an ordinary person.  A job that drained any life he had in him and paid him barely enough to get by.  That chance meeting with the man in the long coat had changed his life.  Now he was part of the solution.  Now he would finally be able to live, to really live.

The leather felt soft against his skin as he dressed.  Zips flowed smooth, pulling the material tight over his undersuit.  Minutes later he stood looking at a new man in the mirror.  It was quite a humbling moment.  His old self was gone now, replaced by Montag.  Soon he would meet the other four people that the man in the long coat had chosen.  They had all been renamed by him, they were now a team to keep the streets of this Granite City safe.  Picking up his skates, he once again glanced at the note that had arrived that morning.  On it was directions to the meeting place and the words.

“Stand in V formation”

The Skates fitted perfectly and he moved to his front door.  Turning he looked behind him at the small flat that he had spent three years of his life in, the flat that he would never return to.  That life was gone now.

The door closed behind him and he skated off into the darkening night.  His headset buzzed skightly as he turned the power on.  Holding the microphone with his right hand, he spoke.

“This is Montag of The Granite City Super Team, signing on”
